Behold, The Margarita!

Did ever a drink embody joyful celebration as much as the Margarita? Honour the simple but fabulous cocktail with this joyous near-religious art print, influenced by both Renaissance religious iconography and 1980s LP covers simultaneously.

At the centre stands an iconic lime (perhaps the hardest working fruit on the bar?) pierced proudly by a gilded scalpel, struck by beams of sunlight reaching between purple clouds; saintly, if not deific, beneath a gleaming, golden halo.

This photograph is the final image in the “Alcohol Free” series (the rest are available here) which explores how far we can strip away what makes a cocktail a cocktail and it still be visually recognisable. MARGARITA RECIPE, CASA CHINN SPEC
60ml tequila (Ocho Blanco is the current preferences)
20ml Cointreau
20ml lime juice

Shake with lots of ice
Pour into a short tumbler with fresh ice
Repeat till joy is felt in every bone of your body
